Weekly Online Lending Snapshot – December 2, 2016
This week has provided us with some additional reading material for the weekend. The Structured Finance Industry Group, Inc. (SFIG) released the first of a series of planned papers to address Best Practices for Online Lending Securitization. SFIG launched this initiative in February 2016 to foster an open discussion among market participants to identify a framework of market standards and recommended best practices. Additionally, Karen Mills and Brayden McCarthy released an update to the oft-cited working paper ‘The State of Small Business Lending’ focused on technology and regulation. Finally, by the time you’re reading this, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) may have provided us a final answer to the questions of whether, and how, it will provide a special charter for certain types of fintech companies.
Note: This report is updated as of Thursday’s market close to ensure we can get it to you before the weekend. Contact us with any feedback or suggestions you may have for future snapshots.
