Orchard Originator Database Adds 18 Originators, $7B in Projected Loan Volume

As anyone attending the recent Lendit USA conference in New York knows, the marketplace lending ecosystem is flourishing. The amount of interest in lending innovation can be seen in the volume and profile of debt commitments and equity raises over the past few weeks. In a span of less than 10 days, the industry saw a single investor commitment of $1B to a platform, while another originator received a valuation over $1B and joined the so-called “Unicorn Club.”

As marketplace lending matures, so too has our Originator Database. We were delighted to add an impressive list of 18 new originators to the Originator Database over the past month and a half, including a large number of the industry’s premier lenders in their respective countries and asset classes. We are thrilled to include international leaders like China Rapid Finance, Harmoney, MarketInvoice, and Financeit along with numerous domestic darlings such as Prosper and Upstart. With a combined projected 2015 origination volume in excess of $7B, these new participants in the Database are a testament to the industry’s massive growth.

The quality of this group demonstrates the continued appeal of the marketplace funding model, as originators seek to diversify their capital sources and capture growth by accessing an array of investors through an efficient, tech-enabled channel. This is certainly true for large online lenders Kabbage (and their consumer platform, Karrot) and Avant, with both recently announcing new marketplace funding initiatives. We are proud to support their efforts with inclusion in the Database.

Here’s a quick rundown of the new participants joining the Originator Database in March and April. Detailed profiles and information can be viewed in the Featured section after logging in. If you’re interested in accessing or participating in the Database, don’t hesitate to contact us and learn how to get started.
